Thailand recorded 21,882 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday as 21,106 patients recover and are discharged from health facilities. 209 more deaths were reported, according to the CCSA.

The number of severe cases in the country has increased to 5,615, from yesterday’s 5,590, out of 57,920 patients still undergoing treatment in hospitals. 153,023 others are still in field hospitals, “hospitels” and home and community isolation facilities. 7,161 others are under care in other unspecified facilities.

Bangkok logged 4,217 new infections in the past 24 hours, followed by Samut Sakhon (1,851), Samut Prakan (1,523), Chon Buri (1,530), Nonthaburi (650), Saraburi (565), Ayutthaya (559), Nakhon Pathom (479), Nakhon Ratchasima (445), and Chachoengsao (434).

Bangkok also has the highest number of fatalities with 83, including 2 who died at home. The majority of those who died had underlying diseases, such as high-blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney or heart diseases.

Cumulative infections, since April 1st 2021, are 878,294 and cumulative infections since early last year are 907,157. Cumulative recoveries are 688,661.

Ten new clusters were found in nine provinces, including five in Samut Sakhon, which include a steel plant, 20 cases, an animal feed factory, 15 cases, at a seafood processing plant, 17 cases, an electrical system company, 19 cases and a food products factory, 32 cases.

Since February 28th, 23,476,869 doses of vaccines have been administered in 77 provinces. These include 17,879,206 doses first jabs, 5,073,672 second doses and 523,991 booster jabs.
