Daewoo E&C announced on March 3 that it has submitted the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) for the Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant (RDPP PJ) ordered by the Algerian Society of Electricity Production.
Ground was broken for the construction of the power plant at the end of 2012, but the construction period was changed due to a delay in civil and architectural works by the client and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic.
Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant in Algeria is a large 1,200 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant (three 400 MW units) located in the Cap Djinet region of Boumerdès about 65 kilometers east of the capital city of Algiers. The contract is worth approximately 98.44 billion won (US$75.9 million).
“It was a big challenge to build Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant in Algeria due to various external variables,” a Daewoo E&C official said. “But the completion of the power plant is quite meaningful in that we did not give up and carried out the project until the successful completion of the power plant and delivered it to the client, thereby enhancing our external credibility and receiving good recognition for our technical prowess.”
