French electronic duo, Daft Punk have announced their spilt via an eight-minute Youtube video titled Epilogue that was released on 22 February. The duo’s longtime publicist, Kathryn Frazier also confirmed the spilt but did not provide the reason behind the farewell.

Daft Punk comprised of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and the pair formed the group in 1997. Throughout their career together, they have been nominated and won a number of awards. Together they have released four studio albums with the last one, Random Access Memories, winning Album of the Year in 2014 and the hit single from the album, Get Lucky, featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers won the Record of the Year.

The pair is often credited with bringing French underground house music into charts, hits such as One More Time, Da Funk and Around The World have all become synonymous with the rise of the genre of EDM.
