KUALA LUMPUR, 27 JULY 2021 – Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Huawei Malaysia) donated laptops to the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) to support the latter’s COVID-19 vaccination programme through its vaccination centres (PPVs) and house-to-house vaccination for severely ill, bed-bound patients and specially-abled people, including those with cancer and other chronic diseases.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) mandated NCSM to begin the house-to-house vaccination programme on July 6. To date, NCSM has administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination to more than 1,400 recipients in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Huawei is supporting NCSM’s vaccination programme by providing 15 laptops, which will be used primarily for NCSM’s administrative purposes such as appointment setting, data entry, registration as well as the update of information for vaccine recipients.
“We are very fortunate to be assisting the MOH in its vaccination programme as we are able to do our part to ramp up the process of herd immunity for the nation. As an NGO, we have some limitations and we are very thankful to have an organisation such as Huawei Malaysia bridge this gap and equip us with the needed resources to ensure that we can carry out this initiative smoothly,” said Mr. Yeap Chong Wei, Marketing Director of NCSM.
Puan Rita Irina Abd. Wahab, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Huawei Malaysia, said that Huawei was honoured to be able to support NCSM in its vaccination programme.
“The only way for us to win this war against the COVID-19 pandemic is to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated as quickly as possible. Therefore, in line with our belief in the power of technology to improve lives, Huawei is humbled to be given this opportunity to lend our resources to assist and support the front-liners at NCSM,” she said.
“We hope that our contribution will help NCSM carry out its vaccination programme smoothly and help the severely ill get vaccinated,” Puan Rita added.
In April 2020, Huawei Malaysia donated four technology solutions to MOH to support Malaysia’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The solutions enabled healthcare experts to work with frontline medical professionals to conduct remote online consultations with patients and enhance the effectiveness of diagnosis and treatment. The solutions also ensured continuous real-time communication between the government and public hospitals, via its video conferencing and wireless connectivity capabilities.
