MOTAC Minister visits Pangkor island to roll out Tourism Recovery Plan activity

KUALA LUMPUR — The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Nancy Shukri continues the Tourism Recovery Plan (TRP) initiative at Pangkor island today.

According to her Facebook post, Pangkor island is also under the pilot programme for Covid-19 Free Destination Programme outlined in the TRP initiative.

“The phase two of TRP outlines the focus to expand Covid-19 Free Destination Programme to islands in Pulau Redang, Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Tioman, and Pulau Pangkor.

“The main efforts taken by MOTAC is to speed up the vaccination process to the local people in the islands.

“In the first phase started on July 17, Langkawi was made as the Covid-19 Free Destination Programme by targeting to achieve 80% herd immunity, before it is expanded to other tourism places like Penang, Pahang, Johor, Melaka and Sabah in stages under the ‘green travel bubble.’” she said.

She also thanked Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato Mohd Radzi, Perak state exco for local housing and tourism who was present during her visit to give support to achieve the programme at Pulau Pangkor.
