People in the industry have lost their jobs, and some of our beloved establishments have pulled down their shutters for good.
But devastating as it is, the global health crisis brought out our amazing capacity for creativity and the power of community, what with the emergence of new digital offerings, interesting collaborations, and grassroot efforts like #savefnbsg.
The latest initiative we can all get behind is an unlikely partnership between Hugo Boss, the people behind #savefnbsg, and The Food Bank. Every month, a restaurant partner will roll out an exclusive menu just for Boss, and 10% of the proceeds from this menu will be donated to The Food Bank Singapore, which currently serves more than 360 beneficiary centres nationwide.
“We know that this period is extremely challenging for everyone and we would like to do our part to support local businesses as much as we can also the community through The Food Bank Singapore,” says Steven Lam, Managing Director of Hugo Boss South East Asia Pte Ltd. “With this initiative, we hope that we can encourage people to pay it forward as we all continue to do our little part to support #savefnbsg and the economy.”
One Michelin-starred Italian restaurant Braci was the first to kickoff the #BOSSTOGETHERSG dining series back in June. The second edition, available now till July 30 (so book quickly), is an exquisite eight-course meal ($138 per person) at the highly-raved-about Salted & Hung. Chef Drew Nocente’s seafood-dominant meal is a symphony of soulful, comforting flavours (IPA sourdough with whipped lard and wakama butter on the side; crayfish with lemonade and charcuterie broth) and triumphantly bold tastes in the form of the pearl grouper with bone crumb and charcoal, and the wagyu tritip, bone marrow and ash.
