Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson vaccines get conditional approval for emergency use


KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Drug Control Authority announce that conditional approvals given to Sinopharm and Janssen Covid-19 vaccine.

In a statement, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Sinopharm registered owner is Duopharma (M) Sdn Bhd and also known as COVILO Suspension for Injection COVID-10 Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated and the Janssen Covid-19 vaccine suspension injection is manufactured in Janssen Pharmaceutica NV in Belgium and hold by Johnson & Johnson Sdn Bhd.

The conditional approval requires information, safety and efficacy of vaccine products to be monitored and based on up-to-date data from time to time.

“The Health Ministry will continue to improve the level of public health in combating the Covid-19 epidemic through the procurement of vaccine preparations that have used various aspects, safety and effectiveness by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and approved by the DCA.

“The government is also committed to ensure all adult Malaysians achieve the herd immunity based on the National Immunisation Programme.” he added.
