The Yan, one of the best places to eat in the Lake District, is offering a Gastro Twixmas Getaway this year – a quick one night escape complete with a stay in one of The Yan’s chic bedrooms, a three course feast of its renowned comfort food and breakfast the next day.
The Yan stands at the foot of the fells just outside pretty Grasmere village and both Helvellyn and Helm Crag can be walked from its door – ideal for post-Christmas head-clearing. It welcomes dogs, kids and muddy boots and is designed around the outdoors, with flag floors, woodburning stoves and a wholesome menu of good-for-the-soul food.
Twixmas dishes will include THE HUNGARI-YAN – a bowl of goodness made up of slow cooked venison and chorizo goulash, cumin hasselback potatoes, chimichurri sour cream and pak choi, THE MOROCC-YAN PLATTER with lamb and mint meatballs served on a shredded lamb Moroccan sauce, crispy chickpeas, crushed potatoes with lemon, apricots, and herbs, chimichurri and roasted veg cous couscous, smoked tomato, roasted cauliflower and chimichurri sour cream and PEAR CHOCOLATE MOUSSE – dark chocolate mousse topped with pear puree, mulled wine poach pear, caramelised white chocolate, and salted seed brittle.
The Yan’s Gastro Twixmas Getaway costs from £340(approx. USD 414.25) for two people including a night’s stay, a three course dinner and breakfast.
