An unbelievable video has captured two women cleaning windows on the 11th floor of a high-rise building in China without safety harnesses.

One woman can be seen balancing on the outside ledge as she scrubs the glass with a cloth in one hand and holds onto the window with her other hand.

Another woman cleaning can be seen with one leg inside the apartment and one leg outside on the ledge, suggesting they had climbed through the windows.

Later the second woman was filmed out balancing on the window sill just as the first woman had done.

The video has been shared on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, and is claimed to have been taken on December 11 in Songyuan, a city in Jilin province in northeastern China.

“The two women, without any protection, wiped the glass outside the high-rise windows,” one caption read, according to an English translation.

The act has been widely criticised by users on Douyin, with many slamming the resident for hiring cleaners to do such a thing.

“If I were a homeowner, I wouldn’t allow someone like this to clean for me, it’s too dangerous,” said one.

“I’d rather it be dirty than climb out to wipe the glass, let alone find someone else,” said another.

“I’d rather let it be dirty than risk my life,” wrote a third.

One person called it a “miracle” that the two women had survived.

“I feel scared through the screen,” said another.

The women in the video wore aprons and face masks but no safety equipment.

According to local media, in January, a window cleaner without safety equipment died after falling from 12 storeys in China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

His manager was prosecuted for dereliction of safety supervision, the South China Morning Post reported.

The Hong Kong-based newspaper also said a man in his 50s fell and died last year while cleaning the windows of his 18th-floor home in eastern China’s Zhejiang province.
