KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) announced that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was given the mandate as the PN’s Chief Member of Parliament, while Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was appointed as his deputy.
The matter was announced by PN Secretary General Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin on Sunday, following the approval of the PN Supreme Council.
Earlier, PN on Saturday confirmed that Hamzah was given the responsibility of holding the position of Leader of the Opposition .
In the same statement, Hamzah also announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan as Chief Whip of the Opposition and Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee as his deputy.
“Parti Perikatan Nasional believes that this appointment can strengthen and strengthen the role of PN MPs as an authoritative opposition party in carrying the voice and interests of the people in the Dewan Rakyat this time,” explained Hamzah.
The Dewan Rakyat will convene on December 19, which will, among other things, witness a motion of confidence in the Prime Minister.
After the 15th General Election (GE15), PN won 74 parliamentary seats, behind Pakatan Harapan with 82 seats.
