The reopening of Japan last month has been big news. In response, and to support agents maximise bookings, Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will host a Tokyo City Promotion at Royal Lancaster London on Wednesday 1 February 2023.
The first official B2B Tokyo event since 2019, it will be an opportunity for travel agents, tour operators, and media to meet with Tokyo accommodation, airline, rail, ground handler, and experience providers, and hear first-hand the new product emerging in 2023.
Exciting new Tokyo openings for 2023 will include hotels by Aman Resorts Ltd, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, EDITION Hotels, IHG Hotels & Resorts/Hotel Indigo, TOKYU HOTELS, and TRUNK; as well as a number of new attractions, such as a Harry Potter Studio, Jurassic World exhibition, and a new subterranean space for TeamLab’s hugely popular immersive art experiences. In addition, urban development projects set to open include Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, Tokyo MidTown Yaesu, and Toranomon-Azabudai Project.
The free event includes opportunities for meetings between buyers and sellers, as well as networking opportunities, the chance to make your own Japanese wagashi sweets in the beautiful shapes of seasonal flowers, and a tasty Discover Tokyo 2023 reception evening event, where guests can enjoy food and drink with flavours of Japan, and will have the chance to win a trip to Tokyo.

Flight capacity from the UK to Japan is set to return to pre-Covid levels in the New Year when Japan Airlines (JAL) resumes its double daily service between London and Tokyo from 12 February 2023. Currently JAL operates 11 flights per week, but this will increase early next year to 14 flights per week. ANA restarted daily London to Tokyo flights from 30 October. British Airways recommenced a daily Tokyo service after a 12-month hiatus on 14 November. Meanwhile, Finnair recently boosted its Tokyo services from seven to nine flights a week due to the reopening of the country’s borders.
