LG Electronics unveiled the concept of LG Smart Cottage (tentative name), a small modular house that can be used as a second house, on March 2. The company explains that it has introduced a new residential space that combines space, home appliances, and services in consideration of the spread of workation (enjoying vacation while working).
LG Smart Cottage is a small modular home in the form of a second house to which LG Electronics’ energy, heating and cooling technology and premium home appliances are applied. It is based on a prefabrication method.
The prototype unveiled this time has a two-story one-room structure and is 31.4 square meters wide. The living room and kitchen are in one space, and the toilet and powder room are separate. A 4kW solar panel is installed on the roof to produce some of the energy used at the home. Its energy consumption has been significantly reduced through Therma V Monoblock, a heat pump cooling and heating system. The inside of the home has an energy-efficient dishwasher, induction electric range, and water purifier among others.
“It is a new type of experiential marketing that combines space, home appliances, and services,” explained Lee Hyang-eun, managing director in charge of CX (customer experience) at LG Electronics’ H&A Business Division.
