World-leading hospitality group, Accor, has announced its arrival in Georgia by 2024.
The company has plans to build a 72-room Ibis Hotel at the Tbilisi International Airport, having signed a cooperation agreement with Fujin Silk Properties LLC.
Chief operating officer for Accor’s New East Europe division, Alexis Delaroof said that the signing will be a major boost for the Tbilisi International Airport hub.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of the new hotel under the world-famous ibis brand in one of the most important hubs of Georgia – Tbilisi International Airport, which welcomes more than 3 million people annually,” explained Delaroof.
“We are confident that the new opening will be a real find for tourists and guests of the city, as well as for business travellers and transit passengers. The hotel’s cosy rooms and convenient mobile check-in, along with affordable prices, will brighten up their wait during a stopover or before a long journey.”
The hotel will be located in a brand new development, 15 kilometres away from the capital, and within walking distance of the Tbilisi International Airport. Rail and bus networks are also within close proximity of the planned location.
The convenient location of the Tbilisi Ibis will connect guests with central Tbilisi, a city famous for its architecture and history. Georgia is a country steeped in culinary traditions and is a highly desirable travel location. National Geographic listed Tbilisi as one of the top 100 best cities to visit in 2022.
French architect, Clément Blanchet is to be involved with the construction process of the hotel, known for his clean-cut, modern designs.
“This project is a first step towards the urban mutation of the area, as it marks the future development of the Tbilisi Airport city area,” stated Blanchet.
The hotel will offer 72 rooms, each designed in accordance with the modern design concept set out by the Ibis brand. The lobby has been designed to be open-air, with a central bar as the main feature of the area. The casual, warm, living style will be comprised of wood and metal features to give a natural look.
The CEO of Fujin Silk Properties LLC stated that the hotel is part of a long-term vision for the Tbilisi International Airport hub.
“The 1st ibis airport hotel is the very 1st step towards a lot bigger & bolder plans. The following project phases at Tbilisi International Airport include over 30.000 sqm developments to bring the old glory to the Silk Road route.”
