An evening of gastronomical proportions by Chef Margarita Forés at The Loggia in Palacio de Memoria.

It was a much anticipated evening where guests immersed themselves in the Italian ritual of apericena—a gathering between an aperitif and a dinner where an abundance of canapés, finger food, and beverages are enjoyed in good company with friends and family. Just what we guests needed as we begin to emerge from the constriction of the pandemic. This apericena was held in the beautiful outdoor setting of The Loggia in Palacio de Memoria, under the stars and amid some teasing of raindrops sprinkling lightly throughout the evening.

And what an evening it was exploring Italy’s gastronomy with 14 culinary creations by Chef Margarita Forés and her team, with each dish paired with a selection of seven fine wines curated by The Tasting Club. According to The Tasting Club, “These are produced across Italian provinces from traditional grape varieties via sustainable methods.”

The prestigious and award winning wines featured during the tasting event were: Masottina, Prosecco Collezione 96 Brut DOC (96 points by Decanter) and Avignonesi, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2015 DOCG (92 points by Decanter).

In between and during each round of the tasting menu, conversations were exchanged intertwined with laughter and an occasional roar of “Cheers!” By the end of the evening, new friendships commenced while tastebuds were tickled and bellies content.

In celebration of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, Apericena was brought to you by The Embassy of Italy in the Philippines, Chef Margarita Forés, and The Tasting Club.
