The world is focusing on the 2023 Genesis Invitational, which began on Feb. 16 (local time), as Tiger Woods has chosen the event for his comeback after seven months. Woods’ decision is drawing attention to his special friendship with Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.

Woods has decided to participate in the 2023 Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour tournament sponsored by the Genesis brand. For Woods, it will be his first return to an official golf tour in seven months and the first tournament of the 2022-2023 PGA Tour season. This competition will run at Riviera Country Club in California until Feb. 19.

Analysts say that Woods’ special friendship with Chung played a role in Woods choosing the 2023 Genesis Invitational as his return event. Woods and Chung are known to have a close relationship to the extent that they personally talk on the phone and get together from time to time.

Woods had an accident during a Genesis Invitational period two years ago. Woods suffered a major accident in February 2021 while driving a GV80, which was provided as the official vehicle of the Genesis Invitational Golf Tournament. Woods suffered a leg injury. Nonetheless, fortunately, internal damage was not serious enough to threaten his life.
