The acclaimed visual artist and missionary opened three meaningful shows in various venues within Metro Manila.

Celebrated missionary visual artist and Philippine Navy Reservist CMO2 Kristine Lim PN (Res) welcomed National Arts Month last February by spearheading three simultaneous shows for the Manila Clock Tower Museum; Intramuros; and the Foreign Service Institute and Department of Foreign Affairs.
Lim holds the honor of hosting the first female solo exhibit at the newly renovated Manila Clock Tower Museum, which is under the leadership of Charlie Dungo, the Officer-In-Charge of the Department of Tourism and Culture and Arts Manila. Lim’s works join the collection of paintings, intricate woodwork, and sculptures that deck the historical site, which opened to the public last October 2022.
At the clock tower museum, Lim unveiled two striking works. “Himig sa may Nilad” juxtaposes the clock tower’s stark silhouette with sunset hues and golden leaves. Lim also created a portrait of Manila’s first female mayor, the Honorable Mayor Honey Lacuna. The public official was in attendance during the artist’s reception, marking a momentous occasion for these inspiring and pioneering women.
Meanwhile at Intramuros, Lim created an expansive installation piece made from chopped-up trees decked with wires and paint. From afar, the seemingly rugged pieces morph to resemble turbulent and undulating waves—a poignant instance of finding beauty in unlikely forms and places.
The exhibits at the museum and Intramuros are part of the “Kuwento Ng Alon” (As Told By The Waves) international tour, with the respective shows kicking off the second leg of the global show. “Kuwento Ng Alon” is a creative project where Lim interprets the songs of award-winning composer, songwriter, and record producer, Jonathan Manalo, as a series of artwork and installations.
“Kuwento Ng Alon” will be held in ten countries outside the Philippines: Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, China, the United Kingdom, France, USA, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. The international tour is with the cooperation of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Foreign Services Institute (FSI).
Simultaneously, Lim worked with curator Cindel Tiausas to lead a group show for the FSI and DFA. “HINDI MABIGKAS NA MGA SANAYSAY,” a group art exhibit featuring Christian + Collective artists, showcased the works of Christian Mirang, Diego, Inka Madera, Kristine Lim, Rodel Buban, Randie Tojos, Sherwin Tan, Shun Ablazo II, and Sim Tolentino.
