A Brazilian teen who killed people and wounded 13 more while shooting up two schools wore a swastika on military fatigues in the cold-blooded attacks, police said.

The 16-year-old — who has not been named because of his age — opened fire Friday inside two schools in Aracruz, a town in Espirito Santo state in southeastern Brazil. The schools sit on the same street in the town, about 275 miles north of Rio de Janeiro.

At the first shooting scene, a public grade school, two teachers were killed. The shooter was a student at that school until June, police said.

A teen girl was killed at the second school, a private school to which the attacker had no connection, according to investigators.

The teen used two guns in the shootings, both of which were registered to his father, cops said. The father is a military police officer in Brazil, and one of the firearms was his service weapon and the other was a personal weapon.

Investigators said the teenager planned the attack for two years. He gained access to a teacher’s lounge at his old school by breaking a lock, according to police.

The teen’s family said he’d been treated for mental health problems.

“This shows how the violence culture is a reality for some people, especially young people. This is a mental health issue which society has to deal with nowadays,” Espirito Santo Gov. Renato Casagrande said.
