People in 14 northern, north-eastern and eastern provinces of Thailand have been advised to brace for summer storms and strong winds today (Sunday), after heavy rain hit Si Racha district of Chon Buri yesterday, causing flash flooding in Bo Win sub-district.
The provinces expected to be affected by the storms are Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanuloke, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri.
The Meteorological Department attributes the summer stormsto the convergence of a moderate cold front from China,which is covering Thailand’s north-east and east, and the intensifying easterly and south-easterly winds, which arebringing humidity from the Gulf of Thailand.
Rainstorms hit Bo Win sub-district in Si Racha for about two hours yesterday, causing flooding in the market and communities along Route 331. Numerous trees in Villages 5, 6 and 8 were felled by the winds.
Six houses in the Kut Bak district of Sakhon Nakhon were damaged by strong winds on Friday.
