The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) announced on March 16 that it signed an MOU for financial cooperation with NuScale Power, a leading small modular reactor (SMR) company in the United States.

On March 15 (local time), CEO Yoon Hee-sung met with John Hopkins, CEO of NuScale Power, at the office of New Scale Power located in Rockville, Maryland in the United States and signed an MOU on financial cooperation to expand Korean companies’ entry options into overseas SMR markets.

This business agreement was signed by Korea Eximbank to provide support for Korean companies in landing overseas SMR project orders ahead of others. In April 2022, NuScale Power executives visited Korea Eximbank’s Yeouido headquarters and discussed a plan to promote financial cooperation between the two organizations with regard to the small module reactor demonstration project.

Since the two organizations signed the business agreement, Korea Eximbank plans to provide customized financial services for various types of transactions, including export transactions and overseas joint ventures between Korean companies and NuScale Power.
