A slice of Parisian flair has arrived in Melbourne with the opening of the much anticipated Le Méridien Melbourne.

The Bourke Street property, in the city’s theatre district, was originally built as a hotel in the 1850s, but has since seen many iterations as a theatre, cinema, nightclub, and live performance venue, and it has now returned to its origins as Le Méridien Melbourne, the city’s newest five-star hotel.

For the love of art

In a tribute to its heritage, art features everywhere. Arrive to a private porte-cochère driveway featuring a striking mural by local artist Stephen Baker, before entering the lobby filled with mid-century inspired furniture, polished natural stone, and terrazzo.

It’s here you’ll also find a large-scale sculptural installation by Marta Figueiredo and projected video art by Wendy Yu which introduces guests to self-guided walking tours and complimentary access to local cultural attractions.
