KUALA LUMPUR — A joint Ops Pelican operation by the Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard department (JIPS), Criminal Investigation Department and Kuala Lumpur police have led to cracking premises involved in scam and online fraud targeting Chinese nationals.
The operation conducted yesterday managed to arrest 18 Chinese nationals, and seize mobile phones, computers, electronic devices and cash amounting to RM 126,000.
According to the JIPS director Dato Azri bin Ahmad’s statement, the activity operated for almost 2 months and raked an estimated profit of RM 300,000 a month.
JIPS will also conduct an investigation whether any of the officers were involved in this activity.
Meanwhile, criminal investigation and immigration matters will be conducted by the Kuala Lumpur police.
The Royal Malaysian Police will continue to curb any fraud activity via online to avoid the public whether the local or foreigners becoming a victim.
