The stunning UNESCO-listed destination has many a distillery and brewery, but it had yet to launch a whisky in its own name. That is, until now.
Water of Life
Edinburgh Whisky, the only dedicated namesake to the city of Edinburgh, has been created to capture and honour Scotland’s cultural connection to the ‘Water of Life’. Edinburgh has long had an association with the world of whisky, once housing more than 100 whisky warehouses and exporting spirit around the globe from the bustling port of Leith (where Edinburgh Whisky is now bottled). And the family-owned brand is seeking to reignite that heritage.
“We’re excited to be bringing a new energy to Edinburgh Whisky. The city is so entwined with Scotch and the majority of people exploring Scotland, for this reason, come via Edinburgh and so it felt right for Edinburgh Whisky as a brand to act as a gateway for discovering different and exciting single malts too,” says Edinburgh Whisky’s, Greg Urquhart. Urquhart is responsible for sourcing and hand-selecting the very best casks which are used in the new collection.

Discovery Collection
Launching first with the ‘Discovery Collection’, this trilogy of regional single malts from across the country is rich in history. It showcases exceptional examples of Scotland’s regional malts from some of its most distinguished distilleries. Each classic expression is aged in specially selected bourbon and sherry casks and aims to take the audience on a sensory journey that reveals unique characteristics; something Edinburgh Whisky looks for in all their exemplary malts. The collection comprises a 7-year-old Speyside, a 9-year-old Highland Whisky and a 9-year-old Islay.
A trio of malts
These three single malts together embody the classic hallmarks of balance, depth and complexity, combined elements which together “make an exceptional whisky gift and is ideal for the whisky-lover who enjoys discovering the finest flavours, finishes and character.” From the sweetness and light of Speyside to the fragrance and fruit of the Highlands and the powerful peatiness of Islay, each expression has been carefully chosen to reflect the best of each Scottish whisky region. The collection is presented in a beautiful gift box, with each exquisitely crafted glass bottle designed by the independent, award-winning studio PRC. It features a unique Edinburgh Whisky tartan and a foiled crest.
Featuring in the next Scotch Whisky Experience tour, as well as, in their expertly curated store for purchase, Edinburgh Whisky will be available in select specialist whisky retailers. The Discovery Collection will be closely followed by an additional three releases in the coming months; a Campbeltown, Lowland and Island whisky. Retailing from £49.95, Edinburgh Whisky is available to purchase now directly via www.edinburghwhisky.com.
